I don't know DICK about parenting, but what you are saying sounds reasonable enough. You're kid's sad and you're trying to make her feel better?!? EGADS. People who are judging need to just deal with raising their own kids. You're my hero -- there's no way I could handle a kid. I'd be a dreadful mommy; but you seem like you're pretty well cut out for it. Give the pretty little lady a hug for me. I hope to see her sometime!

Hey darlin', I just wanted to say I liked your post and I can really relate to your experience and frustration. I just tell people that we do what works for our family and I realize that our methods wouldn't work for all children and all parents, and that's okay. You can vent to me anytime you like! *Hugs*
