You know, those are very interesting and thought-provoking questions. And to be honest, I never even gave that a thought. For some reason, I just blindly accepted Hermione for what she was... a know-it-all muggleborn girl constantly seeking approval from others until she finally befriends Ron and Harry. On blind faith, I just took Hermione's bookish behavior to be why she even knew anything at all relating to the wizarding world and that she explained what she could to (without scaring) her parents. Then, regarding all the other stuff like hexing and flinching at the name Voldemort all being due to her excessive reading and trying to fit into a world that she didn't belong to until she turned eleven. I sort of thought that since Hermione, at least in the beginning, was extremely insecure and always seeking approval and trying to fit it that she went out of her way to be as witchy/wizardy as possible. I'm not sure if I'm dumbing down the story, but that's basically what I thought... it'll definitely be interesting to see what
( ... )
I agree. I do think that some of this is partly due to her wanting to fit in. I think all of us can understand that concept! (Highschool, college, etc.)
However, don't you think, in some instances, she takes it to the ridiculous level? Yes, I know people do that, but this doesn't feel right...especially when I add in all the factors.
As for my conclusions, we've thought of a few...but they all are very thought provoking and argumentative! :)
Oh do tell... I'm interested in hearing them! Like I said, I never really questioned her at all, for the reasons I stated earlier. But with you mentioning everything, it definitely makes you think and makes you wonder. Hermione does tend to overdo things... and in a dark fashion no less. Hmmm...
*laugh* Well, you appear to have stirred things up a bit on GH... I posted my comments there, as you've probably seen, but if you'd like them posted here, I can do that as well :)
Yeah, I think I did! And I swear I was just looking for comments...not to make Hermione a bad person! Which, by the way, I never said. BUt I sure have been accused of being the GH bitch, right now! On one of the games, one of the "newbies" with attitude gave me some lip there too!
All I can say: These kids need to learn to read. As I have said, I did NOT draw any conclusions...I was just pondering. Apparently, that is over most of their heads...
Although, I personally have drawn some conclusions...but none of them make Hermione EVIL! *sigh* Some days, you just can't win! :)
:) I think too many of them are young enough that they see anything that questions something they like as an attack. I think there have been some good responses to the issues you've raised though, and some more thought out than others!
Oh don't get me wrong, I've read some good ones. One of my favorite debaters (Idiotbear) was on there...making some points. And I also responded to a few of their points...
But for the most part, I felt it was utter mayhem and rudeness. I don't think I'll be posting anymore concepts there for a while. I just don't want to have to deal with people who can't/don't want to discuss something...in a discussion forum! :/
Would it be okay if I kept you on my friends list? I apologize for not contacting you until now (things have been kind of crazy and I haven't been around much), but I've been wondering a lot how you were doing. I hope everything is going well for you.
Am i a friend or not friend? lol. I just wanted to say that I never thought about this, I'll have to show it to my friend Undomiel, she'll love this. It's fascinating. And to think I've been stuck on Draco theories for a while.
