Anti-materialism for the win!

It's amazing how much I end up taking stock of the material possessions I've encumbered myself with when I start contemplating the reality of a 3000 mile move. There is a remarkably strong temptation to just toss the clothes I am particularly fond of, my pictures and my 'Zuka stuff in a suitcase and hop on the plane without looking back. ( Read more... )

I totally understand that. I so desperately wanted o leave all my clutter behind when I moved. Sadly, I had lots of clutter and not a lot of furniture...and our apartment is very empty. Still, I completely understand. A blank slate is hugely attractive.

I'm still living at home and technically only have one room, but now and then I also just want to take everything and throw it all out cause I feel like I have way too much crap. >_>
Now is THE chance for you to clean out so you really should do it I think! ^^

(Oh, and btw, congrats on getting the job!! XD )

I have to clear out of and move back into a one-bedroom apartment twice a year, so I know what you mean. I'm actually not entirely sure what I'm going to do in the spring when I can't just shove all the extra stuff in storage this time. ^_^;;
It is a really nice opportunity to throw out or give away things that you no longer need, though. It kind of shakes up your complacency about organization and hoarding.

And again I see a need for a swooning couch! Where are all the good swooning couches when you need one?
On the bright side, you won't have to fit a swooning couch into your carry on luggage....
Luck, love, peace, joy, hugs, aloha, and inspired creativity on working through this.
Derek also sends love and hugs and wishes for all things to work out smoothly for you. Good man, that brother in arms o mine!
I love you!

Before I moved in with my aunt, I had to clean my apartment, and it resulted in me throwing away probably about 80% of what I owned, including all my dishes but two of everything... kinda like the Noah's Ark of kitchenware... didn't even wash them before I threw them out.

It really felt good to get rid of stuff that I hadn't used in a year or more. Everything I brought with me when I moved could fit in two army duffels and a couple plastic bins.
