do you have a handy-dandy translator for Japanese/ I have students now in Japan, and would like to be able to communicate via email, and I would like each of us to write in our native language, and use the translator to sort it out.

This one is the one I use the most. The top option in the center menu will go from English to Japanese, the second option will go from Japanese to English. It's overall the most accurate and obviously just a pretty basic copy and paste thing. There's also a Google translations plug in for Firefox that's really easy and convenient, just not quite as accurate. I use both depending on what I'm doing.
