ipods are stupid

I just plugged in my old iPod to transfer some music back onto my hard drive, and for some reason iTunes seems reluctant to let me copy anything from the iPod into my library. Is there something fancier to try than just drag-and-drop from the iPod to the main library? That's been working perfectly well when I plug in my newer pod, but doesn't do ( Read more... )

Hm, now that I think about it, they probably want me to authorize this computer to be friends with the stupid ipod. Which may be a problem since I don't ever use itunes for anything so I have no idea what my account info would be. fuck apple.

Nm, I logged in and it still won't let me copy stuff in any simple or intuitive way. Is there a magic button? I want my music back! :(

I can't do that with my iPod either (I ranted about it extensively on LJ at one point, but that was a couple years ago now). You should be able to find free software online to help you, though. If my computer was not in the shop I would let you know what I used, but alas.

Yeah, I'm not sure you've ever been able to copy music from an iPod to a hard drive. I use Senuti on the Mac to copy.

The solution is an archaic form of music format called vinyl. Some of mine are half a century old and pleased me very much. Daddy.
