I'm watching Oprah, which is not (repeat NOT) something I typicaly do. But Bill Clinton is on and oooooh boy I could listen to that man talk all night. In fact, I listed to his 6 hour long autobiography on audiobook..read by the author. Love him! I haven't done my research yet, but if you put a gun to my head tonight, I'd have to say I'm pro- ( Read more... )

I've always been wary of Oprah because she could have so much *more* power if she applied it. But, she does good things with her money. She bought a huge swatch of Haleakala (the volcano on Maui) so that developers couldn't destroy it with condos and golf courses. She didn't back down to the Livestock Council when they sued her for libel. She's currently endorsing and fundraising for Obama. I don't follow what she's up to, but she seems pretty legit from those few examples that trickle into my field of vision.

Also, she just named Middlesex to her book club. How awesome is that?

Ha, it looks like I know a lot more about Oprah than I thought I did.

yesterday my mom attended the oprah show. i have a friend that works for oprah.com and he scored me tickets. the show topic turned out to be "Trapped in the Wrong Body" and was all about transsexuals and gender. my mom was like "what?" and "i like being there but the show topic, i didn't get it".

the afternoon show yesterday, which was special invite, was Michael Moore talking about Sicko again.

i like oprah...we had this discussion in the 6th grade, and neither one of us have changed position in 15 years ;) However where before, at 12 years old, I thought she actually had something really profound to offer, I kind of recognize her for the mid day talk show host that she is (although, whatever her intentions...i don't think it matters...a pretty darn good girl for all the work she's doing for the more impoverished). But for a mid.day talk show us...entertaining, no? I mean Bill Clinton = GREAT guest...Go O ( ... )

The Secret is retarded and if Oprah puts her stamp of approval on it, then... well... that's that.

That said, she does some thoughtful things for people. It's possible to be a good person and to have some irrational beliefs. However, it is also possible to be a good person and me not like you. :)
