I am sure the movie would make me connect a bit more cause it brings it to life. It is amazing that there are a lot of Stephen King's books that were turned into movies and I only saw a couple.
I did go to bed after posting....didn't get to sleep til almost 3AM. My schedule is all messed up now that she is out of school. At least I get to read (if none of my shows are on TV) from 9:30 (when she goes to bed) til 1AM. It is quiet and I don't have to open and close the book constantly. ~laughs~
I've seen the film a couple of times but years ago. Got the heebie jeebies for ages after at the hand coming up through the grave *L*
I'm not a huge Stephen King fan. I read "Cristine" once then saw the film and thought it really didn't do it justice and I think I read a couple more and moved on to something else.
The most POINTLESS book I ever read was "The Girl who loved Tom Gordon" (Steven King)....or maybe I just didn't get it. Once I'd finished it I saw a woman reading it on the beach and had to strongly resist running up to her and telling her to quit now, it really wasn't worth it *L*
As I said above to Misty, I am srprised I haven't seen more movies that were made from Stephen King books. I know there are a lot of them. I have only seen a couple. Though I would much rather read the book, it is usually better. Or maybe this is one where the movie is better....just to prove me wrong. ~laughs~
Haven't read or seen Christine either. Is the book any good? Maybe someday I will get to it.
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is the next one I am going to read. Probably just because it is a shorter book. The story summary on the back doesn't seem all that interesting but I will give it a shot. Adara said it is one of his that she liked....and you disliked it. I guess I will see where I fall on the scale.
I only have a handful on books laying around that I haven't read. Most are Stephen King cause I picked a bunch of used ones up last summer that were cheap. I really need some new selection just don't have the money to do it. ~laughs~
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that didn't get much out of "Carrie." Like I said though, I was v. young when I read it so I chalked it up to that.
As for "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon"... I don't think I'd call it "pointless" as the who "point" of a book is to entertain ~laughs~ I like it because it's so much different from the other stuff of King's that I've read. And as I said, it's a very quick read as well. I THINK I know why Cai found it pointless though... I'll wait until you read it before I guess outloud though.

I'd be interested in hearing that. Perhaps I should go back and read it just to see what I can pick up from it. Maybe it was just too deep for my state of mind at the time or something *L*.I just remember closing it and thinking "wtf was that all about?" *L*
*chuckling* there was a little bit more to it than that, but I won't say lest I spoil it for Nikki...just one bit I found a bit difficult to believe, very near the end. XXX
I agree with you there, it was a good book and all but it was carried out... uneven.. that is the best word I can think of it... He turns into to much story telling and matter-or-fact after a while... but even with that it is still well written even if his choice of presentation was misthought.... being it was an early novel I forgive it... I forgive it if for no other reason that I know he learned from it... and boy oh boy did he do so much better....
Uneven is the perfect word for it. It could have easily been a short story. Take out the report clips and take out some of the other BS and it would be a great short story.
I do realize it was one of his early novels and of course he would grow. Hell he has how many books published? I just thought it would be better has it is so often talked about. Maybe it was just a lot of hype built up knowing that he would be a great writer rather than for the book itself? That is my guess at least.
I have noticed that if everyone says something is great and someone reads it and finds it not so great, they are almost afraid to say that they didn't like it so they just say I liked it too and that is how some books get to be great books when they are just average.
