Cult Favorite Beauty Products and a stagger down Nostalgia Lane

I love beauty products as much as the next girl, and I enjoy trying new ones. I have spent quite a bit of change on ones I really like. But sometimes I go back to old faves. Ones that are cheap, cheerful, do the job, remind me of old times...I was looking around at Target and was reminded of some ( Read more... )

Sassy Magazine (before they were bought by Teen) = LOVE. I had a tiny quote published in Sassy. I still have a copy of that one preserved somewhere in storage.

Aussie Scrunch Spray! That stuff was horrible! I once had this hairspray that was made to be used upside down. I remember the can was black, neon turqoise and neon pink - just can't remember the name now.

I don't know when they came out, but I vaguely recall being an older teenager - Biore nose strips. I still use these. In fact, I used one tonight.

And how can you forget Love's Baby Soft?!

OMG! Love's Baby Soft! Thank you for reminding me! It was in a pink and white can like spray deodorant. I remember all the preppies and cheerleader types having it in their lockers at gym. I'm sure other kids used it too cuz it was, like, everywhere! LOL ( ... )

I've been using the regular St. Ives Apricot Scrub for years and years! It's the best, for sure.

I haven't used Noxema for YEARS! I've been taking off my make-up with Pond's Cold Cream for...20 years, at least. It's what my grandma always used and I just kind of fell suit to it. It's the best, IMO.

Regular Oil of Olay! Love it, love the smell....makes me think of my Mom as it's what she always used when I was growing up.

Of course I remember Aquamarine, Exlamation! Perfume...all of that stuff. Remember Debbie Gibson's Electric Youth? I LOVED that stuff. Kissing Potion? Finesse shampoo?

I was a MAJOR Sassy fan from the beginning - which was what, like '88 or so? LOVED it, best magazine for teen girls EVER, IMO.

Ooh, yeah! Pond's. It smells very lightly of roses. Pretty. My Mom used it for a little while but it wasn't a mainstay. I also remember Oil of Olay in the bathroom cabinet.

Aah! Electric Youth! That was my friend Wendy's favorite!I can still picture it on her dresser at her parent's house...of course after freshman year her parents moved to Akron...I still talk to Wendy on FB now. I'll have to ask her about that! LOL

Yeah, I loved Sassy...but then Teen bought it and suddenly it was like the author of the Sweet Valley High books was editing it. So sad. Although I admit, I read the one book where the one twin dyes her hair black to be different from her sister and I kind of liked that one. LOL

I love the smell of the Aussie products! Their shampoo and conditioner smells so YUMMY!!!

I'm a total product junkie! One of my favs right now is Burt's Bees marshmallow vanishing cream. The smell is out of this world!

I love Burt's Bees too. Especially their lip sticks. Marshmallow vanishing cream? That sounds delicious! LOL

It's divine! You have to at least sniff it next time you're out and run across some Burt's Bees stuff. It's a little on the expensive side ($18/jar) but so worth it in my opinion for the smell alone!

I know! If something smells awesome, I'm in. I've had stuff that works amazing but it smells like utter crap. I keep reminding myself that it really does work but soon it goes to the beauty product graveyard under the bathroom sink. Eeeergh.

I will go find that next time I'm in the market for stuff. Thanks! <3 :)

Good morning!

I loved Aquamarine! And I loved Pearl Drops too! I tried to love the Aussie products...but they didn't seem to work with my hair.

And

Wishing you an early happy birthday!

Susan
