I swear to God officer, it's oregano

While I was stuck for a week in St. Louis recently, I made a pilgrimage (oh! twist my arm! the peril) to the shrine of St. Penzey's of the Spices.

Skip a bit, brother... )

No, over the years I've been re-filling inherited McCormick bottles, LOL. Like National Geographic magazines, it's difficult for certain generations of Americans to throw them out. Sometimes you can find them at garage sales/junk stores. However, since the advent of eBay and cable shows, everybody thinks all their crap is valuable, so people overcharge for every stupid little piece of trash now and I acquire new ones only when friends think they're gonna throw their empty ones away. my precious...

I also save and wash out any bottle I like that anything we ate or drank came in. (I can be a total weirdo about that at restaurants, too -- "hey, can I have that?" "What, the garbage? Sure, take it, freak, just don't touch me..") I peel off the Penzey's labels and stick them on my bottles.

Someday, I may be a crazy cat lady, you know.

Also, I love that icon...though it disturbs me. I've never done coke or heroin, or snorted anything really... but that picture is alluring to me.
