Leftover from the Communards, perhaps? And why is it always just the skulls--what happened to the rest of the body?

Didn't the Lair in Return of the Phantom have a the whole "bones and bodies everywhere" thing going for it too...?

Well, I suspect it's because of the way certain boneyards (like, eg, the one in Perros, with its pile of skulls) used to have to dig up the old graves to make room for new ones, and then rather than keeping each skeleton intact, they seem to have made a habit of jumbling most of the bones up in the vaults (neatly, but not seperately) and, like, stacking the skulls up somewhere more visible. Hell, even when they keep all the bones in the same area the skulls still seem to end up on top
