to those buying and re-selling PS3's

All I have to say is how would you feel if one of your kids wanted one, but you couldnt afford to pay the jacked up e-bay prices, and couldnt get one retail?
Sorry kiddo-santa hates you.

oh yeah- and I hope you get stuck with them

Dude, it's a $600 system. Any kid asking for that is a greedy little bastard and DESERVES nothing. Only rich parents can afford to buy that kinda crap.

whatever-I still think people exploiting it for there own profit suck and they are part of the reason why things are so expensive..
and besides, not all kids (especially younger ones) realize how expensive something like that is...it all started with tickle me elmo when people were auctioning them for over 1,000

As someone who is doing just that, all I have to say is supply and demand. If a parent really wanted to get one bad enough and only pay retail they could. Two mothers were in front of me in line a month and a half ago to pre-order the PS3 and they got theirs today. They paid retail.

If a parent missed out on that they have a few choices:
1. Wait in line again next time they hear a local store is getting a shipment in.
2. Tell their kids "tough shit - you can't always get what you want" and if they whine after that you smack them so they don't become spoiled brats.
3. Pay jacked up e-bay prices. Those who can afford it will. It's no different from anything else that has a higher demand than supply.

My kid does want one. Hell, *I* want one. But not that bad. So instead I'm selling it to make some money (that obviously the eBay buyer can afford to blow) and then I'm buying the Wii to have fun with. My kid isn't going to think I love him any less.

the supply and demand wouldnt be such a problem if greedy people werent trying to snatch up every one they can to make money off it. There are people who dont even want it buying it just to rip people off.
I hope that those people get stuck with the extras because its already been said that there will plenty more released for christmas because the companies are holding back-exactly for this reason.
Personally I hope E-bay goes through with threats to ban the sale of them till after the new year.

The fact that most stores ,where people I know who work there, are getting less than 10 units each is part of the supply and demand problem

true, but it wouldnt be so bad if people were not buying them for the purpose of reselling them. When each store only has ten and 1 person buys three, then there are two less for other people-making the short supply issue even worse. If only the people who wanted it for themselves/family bought one, there would be more to go around.

Im sorry-Im just flat out against price gouging..
