Wedding plans change

So it would seem. For now we are putting it off. Mainly because at first we didnt care about a big fancy wedding. We just wanted to be together. However, after thinking about all that we have been through, we've decided we deserve one. So we will pick a date next june or may. Between now and then we plan to host some events to raise money.

So are these events like yard sales or neighborhood raffles? Or are they like having parties and get togethers with your friends and relatives? If they're the yard sales then cool idea and good luck. but if it's the party idea with friends and family then I'm sorry I think its pretty selfish and all around shitty thing to do to charge you're friends to come hang out with you to pay for a wedding that they will then have to turn around and buy gifts for as well. Just curious is all.

well actuelly, I was planning on having one of those pleasure parties/mary kay parties where the company sends in a sales rep and people buy things for themselves and the host gets a percentage.

So its not charging people to come hang out with me, its them buying things they enjoy, knowing they are helping us out in the process.
As for gifts, Im not expecting any, I know my friends better than that. And thats fine, cause the things typically givin as gifts we already have. Some of the more well-to-do on my family's side will be donating to local charities.

Also, I think its not too shitty campared to what some people do, like I could charge people to attend our $75 dollar a head reception, with open bar and 3 course meal on a beautiful cruise ship in Boston harbor.but overall, it only really matters to to those invited, and if those people don't want to help out, they don't have to show up to the fundraising parties.
True friends would be happy to help.
