Okay you have to start with naps. Does he nap in the crib? I co slept with my boys exclusively for the first six months and when I started the transition to ones own crib I started by doing naps in the crib. I let them cry it out a little and I know its awful to hear them cry but Id comfort them every few minutes. He might need that at first. Reassure him you are there but that he is to go to sleep in his crib. I would start a routine that happily includes the crib. Nurse, rock, and then crib. Do it the same way every time.

Good luck! Just gradually do this and handle the tears as they come its okay for him to cry a bit its normal but if you want to break him of the habit its okay to allow for some tears.
