Yours is the first review I've read that's not gushing about Holdo. I just... didn't like her much. I thought she didn't need to be so bitchy with Poe. I've only seen the movie once so maybe on a second viewing I'll appreciate her more or something... if that was all supposed to be about Girl Power, I'm not buying it. Oh Leia's slap too -- I think it bothered you more than me, but I found it odd, yes.
And yeah, Rose was WAY harsh on Finn -- he wasn't exactly "deserting." Their interaction at first didn't seem natural, the way she was fangirling him and then giving him a hard time. I wasn't feeling the chemistry there, either. Was anybody? I loved the Canto Bight stuff (and I know many did not), but the romance thing felt so forced. Like, typical-action-movie forced.
Yeah, exactly! There was seriously no reason for her to be so patronizing towards Poe, treating him like just a hotshot pilot, etc. I mean, Poe’s a seasoned soldier and a respected one - her being patronizing makes no sense especially when she brings up valid points.
And yeah, I think you definitely tapped on one of the reasons the romance between Finn and Rose didn’t work. Well-said!
The relationship between her and Leia is pretty good. But yeah, Poe really was disrespected by her in this film. She really was unnecessarily condescending towards him.
Yeah, far as I know, there hasn’t been a real FinnRose explosion. Not like the current Reylo explosion on AO3.
First off, hey! *Hugs* Good to see you. Merry Christmas!
True that regarding Holdo. And yeah, Poe...the way they portrayed him simply wasn’t Poe Dameron. At all. I mean, TFA Poe is just a complete sweetheart, and TLJ Poe is like...I don’t know. Basically what you said.
I might actually need a second viewing too. Just to make sure certain things fall into place.
And good to know I’m in good company.
And I read a few things on stuff like Tumblr, I know that. I know he wasn’t exactly happy about the direction Luke was taken. Far as I can remember.
