Thank you so very much. I have to admit this isn't an episode I've seen but I know the whole story and I find it one of the most poignant themes in the series. Lovely way it (and this fic) contrast with and compliment the Jack Harkness episode.

You're quite welcome! I highly recommend this episode. The whole Jack/Estelle story is sad, but they're so sweet together even when she's an old woman and he hasn't changed. He still cares about her deeply, and looks after her as much as he can. With the real Captain Jack, he doesn't have the pain of watching someone he loves grow old, but he doesn't have the continued connection either.
