Sorry, Facebook. I'm Done.

About a week ago, I decided to take a break from Facebook.

Oh I do my Heather hiatuses but I plan to stop using Facebook all together... the pages I maintain I can take care of them via the pages app and will allow me to block the Facebook app... all I need is the messenger and pages nothing else... I am here more often plus Facebook cost me my relationship with you which makes me hate it more lol.

No, this isn't a hiatus.I'm quitting. As in, deleting my profile, deleting Messenger, all of it. I'm leaving it up until this weekend so folks can grab my contact info - after that, I'm DONE.

Thatt said, Facebook didn't cost you our relationship. We just didn't talk for a few years.

I've ony joined a year ago and still hate facebook with a passion. I have a huge work related network on it, why I am on it, not sharing anything important or private at all. Facebook is so very manipulative and as it seems addictive.

When I joined I found a few friends I had lost touch again, naivily I thought they'd message and we'd meet up but nah... still waiting. Facebook for me is not about friends and staying in contact at all. I live here :D

Yes, LJ is so much better for real connections. :) It's not exploitative either, which is a huge plus.

Absolutely, why I never understood the big fuss about the servers being somewhere in Russia. So?

Was there a big fuss over that? If so, that's silly. I know Vladimir Putin's regime is corrupt AF, but Russia is a huge country with plenty of decent people/businesses that have nothing to do with the government.

Either way, LJ doesn't ask for nearly as much personal information as Facebook does. It doesn't force you to use your real name or demand to know where you went to school, where you work, etc. LJ allows you to be anonymous if you choose - that hasn't changed since I signed up nearly 20 years ago.
