Huge, professionally embattled - but coming out of the dark! It's been a horrible winter - I've very glad to see it end!

I'm SO glad you've got a plausible diagnosis for John - a solid starting point. ((HUGS)) Stay strong, it's a battle worth fighting. Jon and I were talking on the way to Ann Arbor about what his world was like pre-treatment, and he thanked me for fighting to find what was wrong, and for making the "solutions" work for us (I almost drove off the road). It has allowed him to do normal things, and to enjoy life.

I know it's not exactly the same... but I worked with a young man (16) who was very autistic when I cashiered. It was tricky at first - but once I understood, earned his trust, and got the hang of interacting with him positively - he and I were a great team (I rang up the items as he bagged groceries & chatted mostly appropriately with customers). He had very loving supportive parents, was a varsity letter winner, and enjoyed his life.

I've missed you guys! If I don't see you have fun in Niagra Falls

I'm still trying to find something (anything) concrete. I was talking with another Asperger kid's mom on Thursday and just the difference in the support system she had from living in a large city was immense! (She had a social worker and home aides & OT's and and and....)

So I know that there's stuff out there, it's just trying to access it and figure out what we need and what works for us. (sigh)

I keep reminding myself that it's a journey.

(hopes that you'll make it to TO!)

*hugs*
