This Japanese video of a dog who stayed by his injured friend brought tears to my eyes.  Apart from showing the tremendous loyalty of dogs it also highlights the plight of animals in the aftermath of the tsunami.

It's heartbreaking isn't it. *sigh*

Just today I heard an ex-pat Canadian woman interviewed who is helping to set up shelters for animals found in the affected area.

Yeah with Natural diasters the poor animals are at the bottom of the heap that get helped :(

jane, i heard the story about the dog watching over his friend on the news...i was very relieved to hear that they were rescued and taken to a vet. hospital. the story also talked about the puppy that went for 1.5 million dollars because it was a "perfect" specimen. the commentator then asked which dog is really the best specimen. it brought tears to my eyes too...it was more than obvious that the stray was best.
