contrabass parts are never as hard, rhythmically or melodically, as bass clarinet parts. So you had to play hers? Hrm.

Anyhow -- as far as the prom stuff goes, don't bother. don't be down. prom is overrated.

No, actually, the music was the same for both of us. It was written for low clarinets. She's the worst contrbass player I've ever known. True, I haven't heard anyone play it in a long time, but I know that you're supposed to be like the Tuba of the woodwinds. I blow more air than her, and sound better. Ah well.. she thinks she's better than me; compared to right now, hell no.

Prom.. blah. I'll just wait it out and wing it. I have a free prom ticket, that's my only motivation right now. You wanna go with me? :P

p.s. kidding ;)

well, contra takes quite a bit more air than you might think. and as far as most higher level music goes, that's where the bass clarinet stuff gets interesting.
Check out Ron Nelson's Rocky Point Holiday. Possibly one of the most involved bass parts I've ever done.

a free prom ticket would be very nice, they're darn expensive here. but you still have tux/dress fees and a million other things to spend your money on. if i do anything with prom, it'll be post-prom.
