I was verrry sheltered from actual literature (and many, many other things) as a child, and I feel like my vocabulary has been terribly stunted by it. Consider yourself lucky.
oh I was sheltered!!! trust me when i say that... my parents wouldn't let me got to a pg13 movie until I was like 15 because they were afraid the violence might disrupt my young mind... and I wasn't allowed to read the news until sometime around then... sex on the other hand they never seemed to care if I watched (in movies) or heard about... talk about confusing? *laughs* but literature was never one of the things they kept me from, which I suspect was my release for a long time...
Heh, thats one adavantage of having a very un-censoring republican father as a parent. For my 7th birthday he gave me the complete collection of grim's tales, its 700 pages long and bigger then a dictionary in every demension. I read the whole thing, still re-read it every once and awhile if I'm bored, its veru entertaining.
