While reading this article in the New York Times this afternoon, a single sentence stood out:

Yeah, yeah, whatever. Just more fuel to fire your "food is evil" theory.

Thing is, increased levels of autism is a hotbed of controversy. Increased levels have been reported in many countries, too, not just the US.

Austism is sometimes referred to as the "geek" disease. There are many who speculate that the IT/technology boom caused autistic men and women, who often thrive in the high-tech industry, to meet and have autistic children. People who meet online, too. People who otherwise may never have married or procreated. I refer you to the Silicone Valley Austism explosion.

Also note that some studies indicate that environmental polution could have effected the autistic child's *parents*, causing the autism.
