Update on the Mac issue

Finally, after a lot of stress (and a few calls), all's well that ends well. I did have to call Apple's hotline a couple of times, but at last they found some clause on the customer service side that allows for an exception, which means that I will be able to send my Mac for repair at Apple's cost! that's good!! how did you do it? Do you have the Apple care?

I looooooooooove Mac's OS so much but the hardware issues are killing me ;_; my charger and battery have both died in the past, and a friend said her charger began smoking when her computer got too hot :O

Actually, I simply called a second time and insisted for the exception (they wouldn't grant it at first). I didn't have an AppleCare, but there was an extended warranty due to that issue that was offered till last December, but not on MY iMac model.

I was all but ready to use my last recourse (under the Consumers' Protection law in Quebec, Apple would have been forced to accept to cover the fee due to two factors: non-reasonable product lifecycle (a 4-year-old computer should still run properly) and hidden flaw (the capacitor issue was a widespread problem with iMacs). Google iMac and capacitors and you'll see that I'm not kidding. Well, at least I won't need to go through small claims court and take forever to be reimbursed for the repair...
