Greetings from Foothill Ranch in South Orange County. While Mia is sleeping, I shall take this time to share with you my thoughts on the new Indiana Jones movie...
Okay, let me start out by saying there are some parts of it that I loved and some parts of it that I hated. Also, there were parts that made me go "Seriously?".
Loved
- Shia. He was great, his character was great, and his acting was spot on. I'd love to see him take up the fedora.
- Indy as a dad. This may be b/c he's my dad. But whatever.
- The fact that they filmed it like the old movies. That was amazing.
- The little references to the 50s and to the franchise itself. The jocks fighting with the greasers. The box with the ark. Fantastic.
Hated
- That Cate Blanchett could not decide on an accent. It was really distracting.
- That Karen Allen's makeup people hated her
- That the Indy/Marion relationship seemed off and forced.
- That the movie seemed to get lost somewhere in the middle.
Seriously?
- The whole alien thing. WTF. This was not the X-Files movie. That is in July. There was so much they could have done with the Aztec gods, there was no need to go there. And it just...I don't know. I didn't like it.
- Having the older Jones and Marcus be dead. What? They didn't want to play with you so now they had to die? Why couldn't they be in Boca Raton? I think they are in Boca Raton.
- The lack of remembering your own canon. Dammit, George. You approve everything so...what happened? Do you not remember that Marion left Indy, not the other way around? Do you not remember that Indy had a daughter? You know...the mother of the grandchildren you told the stories to? Le Sigh...
- The part with the monkeys. WTF.
And other things I'm sure I am forgetting, but will elaborate on after seeing the movie a second time.
