Oh wow. This is absolutely beautiful. A clever idea, skilfully written, and the atmosphere is just overwhelming. I especially loved how you counted in heartbeats instead of days, months and years. And the last line put a huge, sappy smile on my face. This pairing is usually written with loads and loads of angst and (almost) never with a happy ending, and therefore I appreciate it all the more that you decided to give them (and us readers) an optimistic outlook. :)
