I'm still watching it, but I tend to be a few days behind because the internet insists on not giving me immediate satisfaction. I'll let you know what I think of "Belonging" in the next few days.
And poor Topher?! Now I'm going to be on the seat of my pants, thanks. :-P
So I went to B&N and watched it and my battery quit about a minute from the end and and and...I rushed to get back to an outlet because B&N doesn't have any (the bastards) and Joss is too damn good about digging in the claws and and and I had to finish it and I did and I'm still on the emotional high 'cause I was just in the middle of a Joss-emotional-build-up and got caught off in the middle of it, and then had to wait until I relocated to finish it and and and...
Yes, poor Topher.
And there's not another episode until December! Curse that brilliant Joss. He is a bastard. And we love him. And and and...I want more! Now dammit!!!!!!
I think this is by far my favorite episode of the series. Not only is it about two characters I really like, but the character development is epic. I feel sorry for Topher because, as Sierra said, "I don't want to live with it. But then, I don't have to." He does, and he will forever. And unlike Boyd, Topher's not emotionally immune to this kind of stuff yet.
This episode also makes me wish they'd do more episodes like this where the focus is on some of the other characters, as opposed to just Echo. While I have nothing against Eliza Dushku, I think she's not as popular among the fanbase (50/50) and the show could potentially draw in a lot more fans if other characters were given more spotlight time. There's a lot of depth there that could be explored and I'd be very interested to see more of it.
