"Presents on the tree'??

I've always wondered...did people actually used to put the presents on the tree? It seems like the tree would fall down. Well, I guess when my uncle used to visit, he'd leave our cards (which were presents) on the tree tucked in the branches, so I guess it's not entirely out of the question.

yes, in the olden days before everyone was all spoiled and christmas gifts were just cute little tokens, they would hang them on the tree.
