Childhood Memories Meme

I follow the flag of annarti~ ^_-

Pick ten childhood memories.

1. My favourite Christmas at Nan and Grandad's farm, when my Nan made us all a gingerbread house :O Chimney, yard, fence ... the whole lot. And it was SO awesome. And probably took her the entire preceding month to make, hence the fact that there was never a second one!

2. Playing 4WD bike taxi on Nan and Grandad's farm bikes. We'd designate a driver, drive a cousin alllll the way across the paddock, then leave them there and go get someone else. Fun for the driver ... not so much for the 'passengers'. Heh, heh.

3. The birthday when I got a sword, shield, helmet and cloak in a big box - the former three made by my Dad out of wood and papier mache (helmet), and the latter sewed by my Nan. Not two bits of plywood nailed together, either - oh, no, when Dad decides to make something (a model plane, a toothpick ...) he has to make it RIGHT. I had a lathed hilt and inset marble jewels thanks to his disorder XD;;

4. Our most famous family holiday trip (it was always my family and my youngest uncle's family back in The Day) to Yeagerup, a place I think you've heard me blather about many times. We got bogged in sand for hours, played around amongst all those massive, massive white dunes, and finally made it to the sea, where we rode a bodyboard pulled along the sand by the Landcruiser. And I dug in the sand and found a beautiful green glass bottle, which I consequently forgot to take home. :(

5. Learning how to play chess from my Grandpa (Grandpa is my mum's dad; Grandad is my dad's dad, you see). He'd sit there and make all his encouraging Grandpa noises in his wonderful Polish accent - "Hooh, good move!" "Hmmmm... hmm-hmm-hmm..." "Aaah, clever girl..." - and then proceed to kick my arse in some new and unexpected manner <3 <3

6. Playing the Geography Game/Maths Game/Insert Game Here Game in the late afternoons with my Mum and my sister :D My Mum is a very cunning woman. She always pretended we were playing a quiz instead of STEALTH LEARNING!

7. The time I went down to The Creek at Nan and Grandad's farm and dangled my legs in the water, and when I pulled them out there was a strange black slug on it - and Nan kept saying, "Quick, get it off, get it off!" and I said "Tell me what it is first!" Yep, briiiight kid even then.

8. Pitching sidelong off my aunt's insane, misanthropic pony, Lady Di, after a long, arrrrghing effort to cling to her back while she bolted. I have not attempted to ride such an animal since. >_>

9. Climbing the fire tower at the Timber Park in Manjimup with my sister for the first time, finally deemed 'big enough' by Mum. Scary but awesome ladder! And the Timber Park was awesome ... if you're a kid. I cannot recommend it as an adult tourist attraction unless you really, really like old saws.

10. Sitting down at the piano in the Bunbury concert hall for the eisteddfod and literally hearing my heartbeat in my ears :( The notes sounded like I was listening through a pillow and I have NEVER been so scared.

Wow, I feel all wistful now. Why does adult life contain no sand bodyboarding?
