I thought that was a neat article. There was one point where it was supposed that the cat was just really good at reading the nurses' response to the patients, like the nurses might put a warm blanket over the patient soon to die and the cat just wanted to get on the warm blanket, but I don't know. The one doctor who was sure someone was on their death bed, wouldn't the cat pick up on that emotion? He didn't though, he showed up ten hours later. If it was dependent on the nurses' reactions, then that'd mean the nurses didn't believe the doctor either.
That's all beside the point. I'm convinced animals are better at reading emotions and subtle clues within humans than other humans are. If they can sense fear, confidence, etc, then they can sense death. Animals communicate at a different frequency than we can hear and maybe we emit some sound that clues them in but we don't know it. I'm tired so I'm not sure if this makes sense.
I firmly believe that animals can sense things we can't. We probably lost the ability when we started relying so heavily on our giant brains with thinking and logic and stuff. I'm sure our instincts are severely dulled. Though our giant brains have served us well. I guess you can't have it all...
