I know exactly what you mean about the time thing. I actually try not to think about it too much but...
I have to be at work at 8:30. So, I get up at 6:30 and take a shower and get dressed and get my stuff together to leave by 8. I spend 9 hours here, then take another half hour to get home (assuming I don't work late) by 6pm. So, that's nearly 12 hours there devoted to work activities. In theory, you should sleep 8 of the remaining 12.5, so you really only get 4.5 hours a day to yourself.
How much of that 4.5 is spent making dinner or doing laundry or running errands? It's just really.... sad. :(
