Smarties, Where For Art Thou Green & Blue??????

... and consequently for green, which is made by combining blue and yellow, the blue and green Smarties had to go.

And yet, they have no trouble producing purple???

Violet Smarties were previously dyed with cochineal, a derivative of the Cochineal insect which is listed in the ingredients as carminic acid. Its presence meant that these Smarties were neither kosher, halal nor vegetarian. Only recently have they changed to being dyed with "Beet" juice.
