Vid Farr as a malignant disease

Nov 22, 2008 23:58

For the first time in months I'm in the grip of a vid farr, and the strongest I've ever encountered too. And frankly, it scares the beejesus out of me. Not because it's a bad feeling - it's great, and definitely beats the pit of eternal despair a.k.a. the vidder's block that I've been in for several months. It feels so good to be vidding again! But ( Read more... )

Holy cow woman.

You've found your fandom niche methinks! :DDDD That's always exciting.

And 30 hours!!!??? :X I am already regretting my swearing off betaing for a few months, because OMG, I WISH I HAD THE TIIIIIIME TO BETA FOR YOU. AAAAGH. *gnashing of teeth and general weeping*

ha! even with your grumpy House icon, you're the manic to my depressive :)

And don't worry, I'll make it a point to tease you with my nearly-finished vids full of awesome shirtlessness and phallic innuendo that proves conclusively that I need to get laid, stat get out more. Every single vid-farr-induced creation of mine. Because you'll be missing out, mister. And my vids will be far worse for it :(
*iz depressed again*

:(((((((

I forgot to say bah humbuggery to being all thinky thoughts and shit with vids. You gotta make the vids that interest you. I am sure there are plenty of awesome vidders who don't go meta when they vid, they just kinda put things together in a suitably pleasing fashion and know how to do it because they've done it so much. I've had conversations with vidders who were completely awesome, but completely incapable of summing up why a vid worked the way it worked, nonetheless, and basically said they just made it because the song/some theme tormented them until they did.

So do what makes you happy. Otherwise your vids will show it.

Even House approves. Because what makes him happy is being a grumpy fuck.

yes, thank you! You get it and that's pretty much exactly what I needed to hear. Though I'm still not sure if I can believe it. See, I have a hard time believing that vidding on happy-go-lucky instinct can be any good, or as good as heavy-meta vidding - partly because I did the happy-go-lucky thing when I first started and it was godawful. And partly because when I'm heavy-meta vidding, it really works. Like 'Powrót' or 'Wild' kind of working.

But I'll take your advice and go 'bah'. So far both these hapy-go-lucky vids give me a lot of joy, and they're pretty shapely. And make me dance :) So I'll stick with them. And maybe I'll work my way up to 'humbug' soon.

FOR GOD'S SAKE, KEEP VIDDING. Ride that wave for as long as you can. No bad comes of it except the yearning for its return.

What she said. Vid like you've never vidded before, and enjoy the hell out of it.

I'm doing my best not to let myself spoil the fun for myself. Thanks for the slap/encouragement, I needed that :)
