Deeply.
Both by her presence and her absence, and I'm not sure by which more.
First, there was that Terrible Day, which should go down in the history books as the Bloody LotS-Fandom Sunday. The most awaited episode so far pre-empted for football?! No torrents in sight? It was a nightmare, a 48hour long nightmare. I know intimately every one of these 48 hours, since I didn't get much sleep then. I was busy suffering from the LoD (Lack of Denna) syndrome, along with half of US-fans and all us poor internationals.
What I did under the influence of LoD:
- stayed up till 5am on Saturday/Sunday to catch it 'when the torrent comes'
- kept getting up every hour, since 'it might be here any minute'
- moaned and whined to M
- moaned and whined to sympathetic
Conseekadores- cleaned the house. Thoroughly.
- went shopping
- cooked some fancy dinner
- painted my nails (!), which I never do, unless there's a Grand Occasion and my mother makes me
- took that shit out of my nails and spilled half a bottle of acetone on myself (I would've said I was very unpolished, or even unPolish, but I lost all sense of humour and tolerance for bad puns by then)
- cursed. A lot. With verve and flair.
- took an hour long bath to try and relax
- watched some LotS fanvids and read some fanfic
- finished
"In the Sun" and kept bothering
mresundance to beta it
- moaned and whined to
gibbynka over skype
- got pestered by some unwelcome company over skype
- was going mad over the inability to fix the ending of "In the Sun"
- realized I went mad with LoD some time before and stopped worrying and loved the bomb
- uploaded and posted "In the Sun", watching the progress bars like a hypnotized bunny
- slept fitfully a few hours
- heard I could watch "Denna" on hulu
- stood on my head to make hulu work for me
- tried to watch the stream with my far too poor connection speed: "Mistress Denna. Gene..." - go eat dinner, chat with flatmates - "ral Nass. I wish I..." - go to the loo, read some, make tea - "could say it was..." - cry, read some more, try to endure it - "a pleasure" - not.
- system crashed. Restarted the whole stream. Four times. "Mistress De..."
- headdesked, a lot, until flatmates restrained me
- realized I must've caught flu, because I was burning up with fever
- finally cried with joy because Kate shared her recording.
And then we watched "Denna" with M at about 1am on Tuesday. I don't have review yeat, too much flail!squee!zomg!ftw obscuring my vision. Let me just say I nearly lost my vidding arm over it, M was squeezing it so hard. Well, I was squeezing her shoulder at the time, so we're even, I just have to remember to sit on her other side next time.
And, though I would never believe it when I was banging my head on M's table and cursing the internets and world in general, it was worth the wait.
Also, "Denna" gave me a vid farr. It's sort of a delayed vid-farr, it was coming for 2 weeks, when I first started getting ideas for "Denna" vids (thus LoD hit me twice as hard: I wasn't just desperate to see it, I was desperate to vid it too). Now I'm very happily vidding two very mad (very Denna) vids. It's very fortunate I'm home with the flu and high fever, no?
And Jesse, I'll be bothering you for a beta again very soon. I apologize in advance. And if my not-rec didn't convice you to watch it yet - you so should. You think you like Richard and Kahlan now? Just wait.
To sum it up, the combined effect of LoD + "Denna" definitely drove me mad.
Denna would be so proud.
