Sex and violence...

If I hear from one more person that sex is worse than violence, my foot is going in their ass.  Then I'm booking it on over to Europe where you people have some common sense about this...

I so hear you!!!!

Sex scenes? I'm good with them, but really violent ones? No thanks. That's just too hard for me at times, while I'm very much open minded about sex. I'm not just saying that because in France we have stuff rated PG or PG 13 that would be R or NC 17 in the US (especially when it comes to sex).

And while I don't say that children should see sexual stuff, well I think that sex is more "natural" than violence, but that might just be me.

Same level of thinking here. Now that I'm older, if I see a film is rated a certain way for sexual footage, I don't much care. But if it's for violence, I often find myself looking up the specific footage because there is a LOT of stuff that can fit in that category. And stuff with rape scenes usually require me to either have someone else watch it first or be very forewarned because I cannot stand those.

People in this country seem so conservative in this country when it comes to sex that it's ridiculous. I suppose that's why so many, especially the females, are so insecure about our bodies.
IDK which I'm more comfortable with - violent movies or sexual movies. Probably sexual movies, like you.
Oh, and LOL about the Rammstein song. Sounds like they have the same sense of humor that Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick does (or used to, anyway). Quite a few of their early albums were filled with songs that you had to have a sense of humor to appreciate...which I most certainly do. ;~)

Okay, early Cheap Trick - "Gonna Raise Hell". BEST SONG EVER. Just had to get that out of the way, lol. :)

Good point with the insecurity issue. It's like a lot of us have to overcome that extra little hurtle when it comes to that. For example, I have photos of me on my husband's photography website. People get all up in arms because they are nudes, which I personally feel more comfortable shooting, oddly enough. I'm like, I'm really the only person who should care. If I am uncomfortable with it, that's one thing. But I'm not. And they're REALLY pretty pics. It's not like they're something horridly obscene, lol.

I am infuriated by the prejudice towards heavy metal music. Pop music artists have done plenty of simulated sexual situations in their performances over the years, but does anyone get upset that? Oh no. It's heavy metal that obviously is responsible for corrupting youth and harboring the ills of society. Ugh.

Btw, I loved reading your earlier story about seeing Rammstein! I know a few of their songs. It was awesome to hear and see from your recounting about what an amazing stage show they have.

Thank you for the heavy metal mention! She said that and I was just thinking, are you actually serious? Plus, over all the heavy metal shows I have gone to over the years (several hundred) I have only seen basically some S&M style stuff and it's been about three times tops.

Why does it feel like you had some fuel from the discussion we had on facebook a few days ago? ;)

I stand by my word, which is what yours is too, it's all very ridiculous. I've never understood the censorship and ratings in the states. It's all just a big joke that makes every European snicker every time it's mentioned. And it's never going to change, because the idiots teach their children the same warped sense of censorship. It's a vicious circle and there's no breaking it.. unless you run for censorship-president, if there is one. (is there one? ;))

One point I gotta disagree with - the rape scene in the Americanized "girl with the.." was horribly tame next to the Swedish one. Just saying ;) Still horrible though :( (hope you get my pov)

Gotta agree with you on the Swedish vs American GWTDT scene, but still, neither were at all easy to watch. I know the guy in this one had a very difficult time shooting it, so I feel that had a LOT to do with it. You could kind of tell. Plus, the fact that he hit her in the Swedish one really added more horror to it for me. I'm not sure why. It also wasn't cut and (big part with me) it was shot at different angles. It was all one long horrifying scene.I had terrible nightmares from that one. Even so, I just cannot handle rape scenes at all. Even insinuated ones can be tough on me at times.

Back to the top, lol, yeah, you Europeans have it right on the style of censorship. I remember when I was in Kaiserlautern, I went to the bakery and they had this tabloid that had a topless woman on the front. My husband grabbed it immediately. He was like, "They are SO not going to believe this was in the bakery back in the States!"

I completely agree with you!! it is stupid!!!!!!! I love the The Walking Dead and it should be NC 17 because of the violence and gore that it have.

The Walking Dead, lol...
I still haven't seen the second season, but I remember when I watched the pilot episode and there were these just horrifying scenes. My husband and I were like, "Holy shit, this is on TV????" And meant it. I mean, there is some really creepy gore in that show. Then, of course, we utter our oh so common phrase of, "But, don't show boobs on TV. Cuz that human form...that's bad." Yeah, much better to see this guy get his head blown off and such, lol.
