Can someone explain the point of the strike to me?

Honestly, I'm not really sure how the strike is going to be effective when all you are doing is refusing to post for just one day. The only way to get the message accross would be if you completely closed your journals and moved them else where. However, most of us are going to buy paid accounts, keep posting, and keep LJ going. I know. It's pretty pointless, which is why I won't be participating.

Hmm, the SC job sounds intriguing, child care matters aside. It's a good area of the country, plus it's close to North Carolina and Virginia - states with very good higher eductation. Lily's got quite a bit before she'll need to consider it, lol, but still, it's always worth nothing.

I'm thinking about it. I actually did some research on daycares and apartments in Charlotte. I got some good deals on some properties that the office suggested. Charlotte also has a lot of after hours daycare centers. I'm still wondering what I will do on Saturday but I think I could post something at a church or the newspaper to find a suitable sitter for one day a week. Daycare is expensive, so I might look into hiring a nanny too. However, sometimes good nannies are even more expensive than daycare so we shall see.
