No Title For You Today

Yesterday we got about 5 inches of snow here. Greg and I stayed cooped up inside of the apartment, ordered Pizza Hut and made hot chocolate. We watched Run Lola Run, which I had never seen before. That's one big thing I noticed when I lived North for a bit. As soon as the snow STARTED to fall, the plows were all out. They put down the sand and liquid salt mix before the snow had a chance to accumulate. No matter how much it snowed, most of the roads (even side roads and neighborhoods) were driveable the next day, if not sooner.

I wouldn't say Lola has superpowers, per se, as I don't think this is something she could recreate at any other twenty minutes. I think it's moreso the artistic license of the film. But I would say that it's o.k. to go along with the ride and say that she has an unusual level of control over her universe at this particular time and place. I think it's a very good film. Good soundtrack, too. Check out more films from that director (Tykwer), too, if you get a chance. I've only seen Winter Sleepers, which I also liked, but several others of his are supposed to be interesting.

I saw that trailer for Blood and Chocolate and seriously thought it was a spoof based on the first few seconds of that hammy villain's voiceover.

The fact that Kansas, Texas, etc. are more expansive has something to do with it, I think. It's more efficient to plow in the more compact cities of the northeast.

It's gonna be cold, it's gonna be gray, and it's going to last you for the rest of your life.
