Hey!

I could never get into DW, so I actually have no idea how things are over there. A lot of people kinda moved to DW after the TOS change, but I feel like my flist didn't really change much.

The icon community I participate in also stills seems to be on here. icontalking is a good start to see what is still active ;)

Yeah I have a backup journal on DW but I haven't used it for anything but commenting in...years, probably. I got it several fandom migrations ago.

I feel like not as many people are x-posting as they used to? Or maybe they are just not posting, or I haven't added them on DW yet?

That was my impression too, that the graphics community seems more active here. Is icontalking a comm?

Yes, icontalking collects links of other active communities. I think there is also one of DW.

I rather use ElJay to read, so if there is any difference between here and DW, I honestly wouldn't know, alas!

(Psst! Good to see you!)

Yeah, as much as LJ tries to turn itself into garbage I remain strangely loyal to it, even though I *know* the DW platform is based on an LJ layout.

And psst! Hello to you as well!

LOL!! I love the way you put that - and alas, it is so, so true!

:D

I've moved to Dreamwidth. I still occasionally remember to check my LJ flist. Certainly I'm not the only one who entirely moved over when they brought in the awful TOS last spring, so cross-posting might be an idea? That way you can see who's where & what you want to do & it's pretty painless.

I have started up a new DW recs comm called tardis_library over on Dreamwidth and it is pretty cool!

Yeah, I've been thinking about x-posting, but I have heard it can mess up your formatting, esp. if you are embedding images? Maybe that's been fixed. LJ has screwed up my theme formatting pretty badly anyway.

The other thing is I am not sure I can keep up with two flists. Although I supposed there must be a way to make an RSS feed of both? I don't know if that would work for private posts or not.

ETA your recs comm sounds lovely!

I've never had any trouble cross-posting embeds. I think, when you import stuff from LJ to Dreamwidth, it doesn't bring the embeds, but that's the back-up your old stuff things, not your new posts.

I'd say try it, and see which is most active & what works/doesn't for you. Cross-posting takes about a minute or two to set up & then it just does it automatically, posting from DW. (I cross-posted for years while largely ignoring my DReamwidth side, and it was fine. It just allowed people tor read and comment whichever side they preferred. And then I did the reverse & I just check LJ every couple of days - there's not much on it that's not duplicated posts anyway. Now my LJ account has run out, I've just stopped cross-posting altogether, as I really don't want LJ owning my content, regardless of the likelihood of them using them anywhere. But, yeah, I'm not really keeping up with both! So... definite self-interest in seeing you on the other side, yes!)

Hi!

I'm half-and-half (with a lot of overlap), and since you are already on my DW flist, I'll see you wherever you go.

Also a few people are trying out pillowfort and the consensus seems to be generally positive?

Hey! Yeah, I remember hearing about pillowfort but I never tried it out. My impression was that people liked it but it was even less populated than dw?

It's very new still, but you can get a membership if you donate $5 I think...
