Okay, so I promised myself I wouldn't post until I'd caught up on what was going on.

However.  I've been reading rydra_wong 's excellent collection of links for THREE DAYS now and I'm still back in January--clearly there is a massive amount of catching-up to do on my part, and I have decided it would be unconscionable to remain silent while I go back and fix

It's . . . I swear it's not a form of self-flagellation that I want to read all of them, even if it sometimes feels like it is. I am occasionally, as a writer and as a person in the world, a clueless white person, and I know I need this kind of kick in the pants. People are talking, and part of the fail in this is the inability/unwillingness of CWP to listen when POC are telling them things.

And yeah. So much fail.

Oh, I hear this. I made this post mostly because I needed it myself--to remember that silence is assent, and ignorance is privilege. I hope to make a post that contributes to the discussion, as you said, but right now I'm mostly listening to people smarter than me.

Good luck on making that post yourself.
