Following the acorn from winter to summer - part 1

May 15, 2024 17:07

Oh dear. I've really not done well with that whole "let's get back to reading and posting things here" resolution of two months ago. So here I am, returning to my usual habit of coming here only when I want to post another immensely long post-holiday write-up. Maybe I'll do better from now on ( Read more... )

holidays, walking

nice walking tour
the land is all green here as well
what's disturbing about that last pic
is the ground marked off beneath it, as if
it were some voodoo thang
and also, who took all that time to make it
must have been on a mission!
probably ritual, as you say
; O

and the castle carved into the stump
makes me think there are fairies about
or that pod staff, that looks like a seed about to pop
the things you run into, just out and about
well, i'm sure the fresh air did wonders for you
cheers
; )

I think they were a "resident artist," but I never really understand these things. Things that we're supposed to find inspiring, I often just find comical. :-)

Lots of lovely photos, the foggy photos are very atmospheric and I love Mickey Mouse and the cloud dragon! Oh, and the beast guarding Postlip Hall - very cute!! :D

And hey, you even got to meet Groot too! :D

Groot was great. He's one of those rare things that actually looked better in the photo than in reality. The "mouth" was barely visible in reality, so I was delighted to see appearing in the picture. :-D

I am constantly amazed at how much adventure you can pack into a relatively short time and distance. The comical owl is my favourite character of this trip.

It was a very fine owl. Although, walking it, it felt like quite a long distance! :-D

I've never visited the Cotswolds, so I really enjoyed the virtual tour of the area.

Our virtual tour is a rather biased one, focusing more on the hill tops and escarpment and entirely missing out all the honey-coloured picture postcard villages that are one of its main appeals. But, yes, it's a lovely place. (And, yes, I AM biased, since I was brought up there.) (Although, having spent the last 30 years living by the sea, I do sometimes find myself thinking, "this is all very well, but where's the sea?)

I've never lived by the sea, but I've always lived within easy reach of it. I wouldn't feel at home in the Midlands or even somewhere as pretty as the Cotswolds when you can't just visit the sea on a whim.
