It's not all that hard to get hooked on the Sims 2, esp. if you have mods in place to fix the issues that EA won't let Maxis correct.
Speaking of which, at some point, I *really* need to finish updating my mod set and install 'Open for Business' so I can try my hand at being a shopkeep.
I keep deluding myself that I'll get around to replacing the facial structure templates so I don't get so many ugly townies, but....
Nah, adding mods is way easy, as easy as dropping the package files into a folder... you just have to be careful who you get them from. MATY is a fantastic place to go for mods that fix problems, and even make "life" a bit easier
