Not -quite- ready to talk about the funeral stuff. I'm suffering a bout of clinical depression at the moment and just really am not up to thinking about it yet

That's why I like 30 Days--it makes people step outside what's "normal" and "right" to them and consider other perspectives. (Side note: I'm from the Boston area and find pro-gun culture somewhat alien--the only pro-gun people I know around here are a handful of hardcore Republicans--but that doesn't mean it's bad) I strongly agree with you about the difference between separating and value-judgment. The statements "that's different/outside my realm of experience" vs. non-subjective "that's good/bad" are entirely separate, except in the case where the activity in question involves non-consensual harm to participants. But it amazes me that in conversation, less-tolerant people will push so very hard for you to pass judgment; in my experience, it's only after about five or six "different, not my thing but I don't have a problem with it" type statements will they finally give up. Very strange.
