Just for you, I'll provide a crazy chemistry adventure for free. Well, more of a lab practical joke (we chemists have a great sense of humor). So, we have a new undergrad in the lab, a lovely young woman named Angela who I know from a class last year. Now, in this situation I could choose to be the nice person who shows her around the lab, or I could convince her that one of the machines will catch on fire if she doesn't use it just right. Guess which one I chose. So I toss off the comment, "Oh, and just a warning. That electrode will ignite if you don't position it right." Angela's jumps, and I start cracking up as she says "Oh my God, come check it." Kumar (the post-doc) wanders over to see what's going on, and as I attempt to explain through the giggles he joins in. Eventually Angela figures out that, no, the machine is not prone to catching on fire. Greatest lab moment yet this year.
Oh my gosh, that's so funny! I cracked up in the library computer lab!!! :-)
Oh, and I live in sort of a combination flat/dorm- it's a self-catered flat owned by the University (who provides the cleaning service!). It's pretty nice, but we have to cook for ourselves!
