First things first. I hope you had a great weekend. The sun is back and my mood is picking up. Especially since I've been wearing my Converse all day (I collect them! Best shoes ever!). Moving on. Listening to the Glee soundtrack. Awesome music. So everything is fine. Should be. People are stupid. Moving on. I owe you a chapter and here it is:
(Also: This first part still has dialogue from the last episode. The credit for these lines go to Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie. Moving on.)
Lead the Way - 031 - Welcome to the World
Several hours later, JJ held little Henry in her arms. Both parents were beaming at Garcia, Hotch and Emily. A fake smile on her face that did not reach her eyes, the brunette tried her best not to let on how much she was hurting inside. Thankfully, JJ only had eyes for her son.
“He looks just like you,” Garcia said, directing her observation at Will. It had always amazed Emily how people could find resemblances in baby faces. But for now she was content to keep up her smile.
“Let’s hope he grows out of that,” Will slurred.
“Just as long as he doesn’t inherit the accent.” Emily couldn’t help herself. Reid walked in and congratulated Will. Yet another thing Emily had never understood. Why did people congratulate the father who had done nothing to help get this child into the world?
Will led them all out of the room to get coffee.

As soon as Will had cleared out the room and JJ was alone with Spencer, she asked:
“You okay?” She didn’t want to ask him, if he was too exhausted.
“Yeah, yeah. You?”
“Yeah. You’re sure? ‘Cause there’s something I wanted to ask you, but it can wait.”
“What is it?”
“Will and I were talking and ahm…” Actually she had insisted that neither his sister nor his brother would be asked. In turn she had to agree that neither Lauren nor Bradley would be considered either, which wasn’t a tough choice. She neglected to tell him that though, and they had settled on Garcia and Reid.
“We want you to be Henry’s Godfather.” She smiled at him hoping he’d say yes. At first she had wanted to ask Emily but besides the obvious problem of asking Will, she wanted Emily to raise Henry with her. Maybe - one could dare to dream - become like a mother to him. She was very good with children.
“I don’t even… wow… I don’t even…” Spencer was more than surprised.
“Do you want to hold him?”
“Erm…”
“It’s okay.”
Taking the boy he said, “Hi. Hello Henry.”
“If anything should happen to us, it’s up to you and Garcia to make sure this boy gets into Yale.” Emily’s school. Again, she had neglected to tell Will any of it.
“Uh, Yale. Yale. Do you want to go to Yale, Henry? That was your Godfather’s safety school. Don’t worry I can get you into Caltech with one phone call.”
Yes, she had definitely made the right choice.

Outside, Will made sure to be alone with Emily. He had noticed how his ex-girlfriend talked about the profiler constantly. At first he had a hard time believing that this could be the person JJ had wanted to be with, but after a while he was relieved. Obviously this was just a phase and he had given her time to explore it. Now that Henry was born however, it was time to reclaim what was his.
“I can’t wait to get JJ home.” The words had the intended effect. Emily swallowed hard and nodded. But he needed to make sure she got the point.
“I mean we’re a family now.” She had to see reason, but he wasn’t convinced she was quite there yet.
“You don’t fool around when you have kids, you know? It’s time to settle down and work stuff out rather than flee from it. And I’ll make sure JJ’s taken care of.” While he said those last words he readjusted his belt buckle and Emily felt sick to her stomach.
“Sure.” Emily couldn’t say more. She couldn’t say that he never had to say what he did, that she had actually agreed with him, except for the taking care part and she most certainly couldn’t congratulate him. Careful not to show him the tears in her eyes, she left the hospital and made her way home.

“Morgan! Psssst!” JJ hissed in the direction of her friend. He had come in a while after Reid, and as everyone was standing around Will and little Henry she spotted her chance.
“What is it JJ?” he whispered back.
“Have you seen her?” During the past weeks JJ had come to rely a great deal on her co-worker. He was the only person she could talk to about Emily. Of course she refused to talk about her emotions and wishes; she was determined to stay professional about this. But just recounting this spectacular date and knowing that he would encourage her in this endeavor had been all she needed.
Now however, the blonde was getting more and more worried. Since she had asked Reid to be the baby’s Godfather she had not seen Emily at all. Was she angry that they had chosen Reid and Garcia? Was she freaked out by the prospect of dating a mother? Didn’t she have enough time to prepare for this? Or was that one night all she had ever wanted?
“She was on her way out when Rossi and I came in.” Morgan knew that this was not what JJ wanted to hear, but what was he supposed to say?
“Was she upset? I mean, do you know why she left?”
“No, JJ, I have no clue why she left. Maybe you should give her some time to figure things out, you know? If the woman I was dating just had another man’s baby… I’d need time.”
“But she knew that going in, didn’t she?”
“You should rest now; it’s been a long day. And once you get out of here, you can figure things out together.”
“Yeah, maybe you’re right.” JJ reluctantly agreed. Maybe Emily needed time to adjust. Hopefully she would come around.
