For a moment there I thought LJ was being bitchy again. But I guess it took pity on me. I wonder if you guys will after you've read this chapter...
Lead the Way - 099 - Good Intentions
Emily was crying. She couldn’t believe it. She was actually wiping away tears of laughter. Impossible to say what was funnier: the movie or Morgan’s and Reid’s bickering.
Some man being introduced to his future parents in law and of course it was a total disaster. It was also the third movie with about the same general setting. Garcia had picked the movies. It was her way of telling her that it couldn’t possibly be worse than believing your future father in law was a spy.
Kevin, Reid, Morgan and Garcia really were the best support she could have asked for. Her thoughts never strayed to JJ and she didn’t keep checking her cell phone every two seconds like she had done before they came. They hadn’t even mentioned why she needed company.
Only Reid asked where JJ was, but Garcia quickly jumped in and said she drove to her parents to spend some time with them. He had accepted that explanation and just shrugged. One less mouth to feed meant more popcorn for him.

JJ wished she could have left the car and taken the plane back home. She wanted to fall into Emily’s arms and tell her in minute detail everything that had happened that weekend. A phone call simply wouldn’t have been enough. She wanted to hug her and kiss her and tell her that if any woman would ever be worth taking out to East Allegheny it would be her.
The car was so slow and she couldn’t wait to start her life with Emily. She had been the one to slow down the unfolding relationship; she had put the brakes on their life together. Now that her family knew, there was nothing to stop her. If Emily would have her they would spend the rest of their lives together. No more disruptions.
She noticed a car by the side of the road, emergency lights blinking. She pulled up behind the black Lincoln and made sure that Henry was sound asleep in his seat. JJ got out of the car and locked it.
“Hey, do you need some help?” The hood was up and she didn’t see who was behind it. She touched her gun just to be safe.
“Ah, I can’t see anything in this damn light. Thanks for stopping.”
The man was in his late forties, handsome, salt and pepper hair, light eyes and a scruffy beard. In his oily suit he looked like an accountant who was in way over his head.
“You’re welcome. Did you call triple A?”
“No reception.” He smiled.
“Right. Listen I have a radio in my car, I could try calling it in.”
“No need to bother Ma’am.”
“It’s no bother.” She turned away and back to her car. She saw a reflection in the driver’s window, but before she could turn around it was too late. He had hit her over the head and knocked her out cold.

At the sound of Whitney Houston’s Run to you Emily had jumped on her phone and run up to her bedroom, leaving her friends behind. She didn’t want to see them watching her facial expressions to guess.
Without wasting time on greetings she asked:
“How did it go?”
“Very smoothly, thank you for asking.”
“Who is this?”
“Are you trying to hurt my feelings, Emily? I can’t believe you wouldn’t recognize my voice.”
“Where is she?” The profiler tried a different approach.
“Your beloved? She decided it was best to come with me to the party straight away.”
“Who is this?”
“Listen, I was thinking you guys should come as well. Why not bring the whole team? Hotchner, Rossi, Garcia, Morgan and Dr. Reid. He certainly looks like he could use some fun.”
Emily hadn’t recognized the voice, but the resonating, sharp laugh that followed said it all.
“Cooper, you sick bastard, where is she?”
“Manners, Emily!”
Slowly she breathed in and out again. It was a game. She couldn’t let him win, there was too much at stake.
“You can’t say things like that in front of a child.” ‘Oh my God, he has Henry, too.’
“Alright.”
“No. I want to hear you apologize.”
This had to be some kind of sick practical joke. He was supposed to be on death row for over two dozen murders. Looking deep within herself Prentiss found the strength to say three little words she had never meant less.
“I am sorry.”
“See, that wasn’t so hard, was it?” She held the phone away from her mouth and shook her shoulders before going back in.
“Now, what do you say when you’re invited to a party?” Any second now the cell phone in her hand would break from her strong grip.
“Thank you, I’d love to come.”
“You’re a very good girl, Emily. Your parents taught you well. Do make sure that the others come too, will you?”
“I’m sure they’ll be as thrilled as I am.”
“We’re going to have so much fun.”
“Where are you?”
“I’ll send you the address in two hours, I trust that ladies still take forever to get ready? Are you a lady, Emily, or do you just like to fuck them?”
“In two hours then.” Prentiss decided not to engage him. She only had two hours to inform the team and come up with a plan.
“And they call me an abnormality.” The laughter stopped suddenly and the call was disconnected.
