I finally finished the chapter on Conflicted this weekend, I found the answer to a question I thought I'd never have to ask myself (can there be too much femslashy subtext? - YES!) aaaaand I did my homework! Fried Green Tomatoes is awesome! I mean I saw it a couple of years ago, but I guess I wasn't really watching or I didn't consider the subtext or something, but I didn't like it then. I almost didn't watch it, but I said to myself: If Talos 13 made it her icon, this has to be good. And it is! Anyone who hasn't seen it, go see it now!
But enough of that, you're here to read, aren't you?
Lead the Way - 011 - Meet Gerald Cooper
Reid flinched at the sound of the gates shutting behind him. Visiting prisons had always made him feel uncomfortable.
When they finally reached the interrogation room where Cooper was waiting for them, he eagerly jumped at the opportunity to think of something other than iron bars locking in people - even if this something meant a world of gruesome crimes.
Gerald Cooper was just as good looking as Gideon had predicted him to be. Tall, muscular, blue eyes, white teeth, pronounced jaw line, straight posture; he oozed self-confidence. The years hadn’t made him any less attractive. Quite the opposite. His hair was beginning to turn grey and he went for the disheveled style.
As soon as the profilers walked in, Gerald Cooper boomed at them:
“Ahhh Agent Prentiss, welcome. I’m sorry that I am currently unable to make you more comfortable, but please, do sit down.” He had not even glanced at the man and both of them knew exactly why. Emily fitted his type to a T.
Without paying attention to his cordial tone, Agent Prentiss began:
“Good Morning. Thank you for agreeing to meet with us. It gives us the opportunity…”
“Yes, yes, yes. But I won’t talk to you, until he…” He pointed his finger at Reid while keeping his eyes glued on Emily “…has left the room.”
“It is not customary to leave an Agent alone with a convicted serial killer without supervision, so…” Reid stated rapidly, although he knew it wasn’t true. They had all been alone with an Unsub before, but he wanted to give Emily a chance to back out. Cooper was, after all, eying her suspiciously.
“If you want to watch, you’re welcome.” Gerald now addressed the genius. “Whatever gets you off, as long as I get to be alone with her.” Looking at the brunette he wet his lips in anticipation.
“It’s okay Reid, I got this.” Reluctantly he stood up and set up behind the two-way mirror to watch his colleague. Meanwhile Emily had made a choice. Cooper wanted to play games, shock her, trigger some kind of emotional reaction, thus she would be as cool and professional as she could. If he didn’t get what he wanted, maybe he would reveal more to draw her into his game.
“Now I believe you were saying something about an opportunity?”
“Yes. Agreeing to talk to us will help us understand you better and thus ease our work.”
“Catching guys like me you mean?”
“Yes.”
“Now why would I want to do that?”
“Excuse me?”
“Why would I want to help you catch my friends?”
“You are a sociopath, Mr. Cooper. You don’t have friends and you don’t care what happens to others.”
“Oh you misinterpret me, Emily.”
“You will refrain from calling me by my first name Mr. Cooper.” At that the murderer giggled. He asked:
“Then tell me, Agent Prentissss, why did I agree to talk to you?”
“Your execution is less than a week from now. All your appeals have been denied. For twelve years you have lived by yourself in a small cell, allowed to leave it only an hour a day. You are either bored, feeling the need to relive one more time the atrocities you did or trying to delay the execution.”
“How would that work?”
“I am sure your lawyer has told you that all your appeals have been turned down.”
“First, let us get some facts straight.” Cooper looked longingly at the window just under the ceiling.
“You were born in 1962, correct?” He didn’t answer.
“Mr. Cooper these are the easy questions. I suggest you answer them and show some cooperation.”
“Could we open the window?”
“Answer the question.”
“Yes, I was born January 2nd, 1962. Would you open the window now please? I am somewhat indisposed at the moment. Unless you’d agree to take these off of me.” He smiled at her, holding up his cuffs.
Emily got out of her seat and noticed that Cooper stared at her ass the entire time. She opened the window, taking as much time as she could. He should feel secure and safe, all the while getting frustrated by not being able to draw her into his mind games.
“You were expelled in 1974 for repeatedly hiding in the girls’ locker room. You were subsequently arrested for peeping, stalking, statutory rape and rape. You were incarcerated in the McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility in Mart, because it was believed that you could hope to lead an honest life only away from your abusive father.”
“Ah, now we’re finally getting to the dirty stuff.” He smiled. “Will you let me get up and smell the air if I tell you about Nora?”
“Are you referring to Nora Woodrow, your fourteen year old rape victim?”
“She was delicious! I still remember the scent of her soft skin, moist from the sweat…”
Outside the warden who had asked to sit in on this interview looked at Reid with disgust.
“I can’t listen to this crap any longer Dr. Reid. Please excuse me.”
“Certainly.” Reid concentrated again on Emily and Cooper, taking notes all the time.

So far JJ’s job had been fairly easy. The local media was so busy reporting the upcoming Rose Festival that they had no real interest in dragging up the disturbing crimes that had disrupted this beautiful town 12 years ago. Tourists were easily scared and there were much prettier things to remember the city of Tyler by than a serial killer.
During her lunch break Agent Jareau decided to explore this Festival a little. Apparently there would be a parade and the crowning of a Queen. This was a perfect opportunity to get closer to Emily.
A smile spread across JJ’s face as she remembered this morning. She had woken up before the alarm rang and turned over to find a sound asleep Emily lying next to her. That image alone would have made her day but as she had taken in more of the scenery JJ had noticed that the T-Shirt her colleague had gone to sleep with was not covering everything it was intended to anymore.
The soft white skin of Emily’s flat stomach had been exposed to JJ’s longing looks and she hadn’t been able to take her eyes off of it. Slowly she had reached out, careful not to touch the other woman. Holding her hand just close enough to feel the heat emanating from the body yet not actually making contact had given JJ courage.
That and the fact that she had googled the Indigo Girls earlier. Of course listening to gay musicians didn’t actually rise up to a statement but she clearly wouldn’t freak out, once JJ had worked up enough courage to actually do or say anything. And that wisdom alone made her feel stronger.
Now she just had to find a way to get rid of Reid…
