“Arthur Prince!”
The blonde boy cringes when his full name is shouted across the parking lot as he’s locking the car.
He knew he would have to deal with Sophia’s fury for missing the party, he just hoped it would be later rather than sooner. Across the car, Merlin smiles sympathetically at him.
“She looks like she just swallowed a very sour lemon.” She comments, looking over his shoulder.
“Stick around will you? In case she tries to kill me, I’ll have a witness.”
Merlin chuckles and leans against the car, shrugging her concordance. Arthur nods his thanks and turns to face Sophia, who’s standing a few feet from him, hands in her waist, tapping impatiently her obvious expensive shoe on the cement ground, face clouded in anger.
“Hey Sophia.” He says carefully.
“Two hours! I waited for you for two hours and you didn’t show! Do have any idea how humiliating that was!?” Sophia hisses angrily, jabbing her manicured finger on his chest. Behind Arthur, Merlin chuckles in her fist.
“Should have brought popcorn for this.” She mutters in amusement. Sophia glares at her.
“What are you doing here?”
“I attend this school. You know, after 3 years, someone would think your brain would have retained that information.” Merlin says idly, smiling sweetly at her. “Perhaps the excess of nail polish fumes or maybe hair dye, is affecting you neurons. All two of them.”
Arthur chokes on his laughter, unable to help himself. Sophia’s anger turns to blind cold fury and she glances at him expectantly.
“What?” He asks too amused for his own good.
“Aren’t you going to defend me?” She speaks as someone would to a stupid child.
“Yes Arthur, please. Come to the rescue.” Merlin mocks. “God forbid if the princess has to think too hard, searching for a retort. She might pull a muscle.”
Arthur laughs again. God, Merlin was being particularly cruel today. Good thing he wasn’t the target.
Sophia makes a weird sound of distress in the back of her throat and shoots him a murderous look before stalking out.
“We are so over, Arthur Prince!”

I was listening to Relient K today... Man, they should totally be considered Arthur/Merlin official soundtrack. The Best Thing and I Must Have Done Something Right are totally them!
