“So…” Arthur starts, eyes never leaving his task of washing the dinner dishes. “Supposedly, you had your wicked way with me on the hood of my car. How was it?”
Merlin nearly drops the plate she’s drying and stares at Arthur’s smirking face in utter shock.
“I… what?” She asks bewildered and the blonde laughs.
“I take you didn’t hear the rumors then?”
“Not that one.” Merlin answers with a sigh.
“Does it bother you?” Arthur questions with a frown. “That they’re saying we’re together?”
“It’s not that.” She shakes her head. “I just don’t like it to be the center of attention, that’s all.”
Being the center of attention meant having to be even more careful about her abilities.
“Give a day or two and they’ll be talking about someone else.” Arthur says with a shrug.
“Yeah, I guess.” Merlin answers, shoulders dropping.
“God, Merlin! It’s not that bad.” Arthur exclaims exasperated. “Does the perspective of making out with me disgusts you so?”
He asks with a mock hurt tone. The girl rolls her eyes, pointedly ignoring how a part of her brain was screaming no.
“Yes.” She says instead. “Me and a jock?” Merlin fakes a shudder and Arthur laughs.
“Speaking of jocks, I have a game this weekend. You’re going, right?”
“Arthur, I don’t know how to break this to you, but I don’t like soccer.”
“You don’t have to like it.” He says rolling his eyes. “Just cheer for me. Like a good friend would do. And if I recall correctly, you told me you were going to be my friend whether I liked out not.”
He’s smirking smugly and Merlin grimaces. Damn her big mouth.
“Can’t we have a temporary fall out?”
“No.” Arthur smiles, finally done with the dishes.
“Fine.” Merlin sighs dramatically, putting away the last of the glasses she was drying. “I’ll go to the stupid game and I’ll cheer for you.”
“Thank you.” Arthur grins widely and appreciatively and Merlin has to bit her own cheek to not grin back like a fool.
