Masterlist 52. It’s Magic
The entire performance lasted an hour in which Merlin took white rabbits out of her hat, only to have them transformed into white pigeons that flew around the room before they all busted to another shower of golden stars on top of their heads.
She made deck cards pirouette on the air, forming objects and words; she made a doll danced on the floor by itself and even turned a girl’s hair bright pink before it quickly returned to its original color.
Merlin walks out from the room under loud applauses and cheers from the kids. Arthur searches Morgana through the crowd of children and finds his sister gazing at him just as dumbstruck and dazzled by the performance as he feels. It’s just so amazing.
He exchanges a few words with Hunith and discovers where Merlin is. The room is not very big and has a connecting door to the main room where the children were.
Arthur watches for a moment from the door. Merlin has her back turned to him, already wearing her street clothes and she’s currently watching as all the things she used on the show bounce and dance towards her open backpack by themselves.
“Amazing!” He exclaims despite himself as he walks into the room. All the things fall to the ground unmoving as Merlin spins to face him startled.
“No, don’t stop.” He asks, standing beside her. “Do it again.”
Merlin smiles sheepishly, before flicking her hand and all the objects restart their dancing parade.
“Where did you learn to do that?” He asks still marveled. Merlin just shrugs. “If I didn’t know any better I’d say it’s magic.”
Merlin smirks at him a little mischievously as the last of her belongs enter the backpack and it zips itself closed.
“You liked the show then?”
“It was bloody awesome, Merlin!” Arthur says grinning. “Come on, do something else for me.”
Merlin grins wide, looking around the room. There’s a small fireplace and she walks over, gathering a bit of ash in her hand. She glances up at Arthur again to find him watching her expectantly as she blows the ashes.
He barely have time to process the flash of gold in her eyes when a gold and red dragon flies in his direction, swirling around his head and breathing out small puffs of smoke.
Merlin watches as Arthur laughs in a childish delight and follows the dragon’s movements, looking young and without a care in the world. It made a warm feeling creep into her belly.
“Why didn’t you do this one for the kids?” He asks, eyes not leaving the dragon even for a second.
“I don’t know.” Merlin shrugs, a blush spreading over her cheeks.
She knew exactly why she conjured the dragon in Arthur’s presence only. It was the Pendragon’s crest hovering over the blonde’s head. That dragon was a part of Merlin’s magic that belonged to Arthur and Arthur alone.

EDIT
dark_zelda got the reference right! It's from Disney's movie The Sword in the Stone. In the scene, Merlin enchants his furniture to enter his tiny little bag while Arthur watches amazed!
