Merlin remains on her room for a couple of hours after Gwen leave, gnawing at her words. She had never considered on asking her mother about it. Not once. Merlin just assumed.
The girl jumps out of the bed and makes her way to the kitchen. Susan is baking.
“Mom?” She asks quietly. “Can we talk?”
Susan looks up with a confused expression and nods as Merlin sits down and starts to make doodles on the tabletop with her finger, worrying her lower lip between her teeth.
“Merlin? What’s the matter, honey?”
“Would it bother you?” Merlin asks, not looking up.
“What?”
“Me and Arthur. Dating.”
“Oh honey.” Susan smiles, shaking her head before hugging her daughter. “Of course not. Why would it?”
“Because you’re dating his dad.”
“It doesn’t bother me or Andrew. We know you two are completely in love; even with all the fighting, we know you two were made for each other.” She smiles and kisses Merlin’s head. “The true question is: does it bother you?”
Merlin looks away feeling uncomfortable. She had never thought it was her own issue keeping her away from Arthur, not her mothers.
