“No, I did not fight with Arthur, Gwen.” Merlin sighs on the phone, leaning back on the chair. “It just… look, I can’t really explain. I just need some time.”
Apparently, Gwen noticed Merlin’s avoiding Arthur and now the girl is taking matters in her own hands.
But it’s not really Merlin’s fault. Lancelot’s words keep running through her head every time she looks at Arthur and she panics. It was too much to take it. Too much. She needs some time to digest all.
Meanwhile, Merlin is focused on figure out about Lance’s memories. And for that, she needs to spend the most time with the young man as it is possible.
“Look, I gotta go. I’ll call you later. Promise.” Merlin listens to Gwen complain for a while before turning the phone off.
“When are you going to introduce us?” He asks eagerly when she looks up.
“I don’t know. It’s not that easy. I can’t just say: hey Gwen, meet your past life lover, Lancelot. It’s not how things work with my Gwen. She’s different from the other one. But I will. Soon”
Merlin explains apologetic. She knows what feels like to have all those memories about your love one, while he doesn’t have a clue. It’s frustrating.
Lance doesn’t reply. His focus is elsewhere; a frown of worry marrying his features.
“What?” Merlin asks, following his gaze to the window.
“That car.” Lancelot says, nodding to a black SUV, passing by the front of the coffee shop in slow motion. “It’s the third time that car passes by us. That’s strange.”
Merlin takes a second to scrutinize the car, which had stopped at a red light. It is slightly familiar, but she’s not sure if she can place it.
“I’m not sure, but I think I’ve seen it before.”
“I don’t like this.” Lance says; tone serious. “I’m taking you home.”
“What?” Merlin asks in panic. “No, no, no. You can’t remember? Arthur.”
“I’m not letting you go alone, Merlin! There is something weird going on. It could be dangerous.” Lance’s voice is firm and holds no room for discussion.
“What if I call Will?” Merlin suggests carefully. “I won’t be alone and Arthur won’t see you. Is that agreeable?”
Arthur is almost starting to like Will, but if the boy sees Merlin with Lance, things would go down hill for sure.
“Fine.” Lance agrees. “But I’ll wait until he arrives.”
Merlin nods, knowing very well the man wouldn’t relent on that point.
