My family are fuckwits. When you get something for someones birthday, you are meant to put thought into it. You do not go out and by something as major as furniture for someone and put no thought into it at all. Ebay is your friend...I am sure there is some nut case who would like it! Then you can get something nice to cheer you up! Hell spend it on a dinner at Veggie Bar!

Was it a sofa that you were given? Sounds like it was a sofa...if it was you can just get a cover for it. That would drop a big hint! Also means that you are using it but at least you can cover its ugliness :)

...I guess they're expressing their caring for you in a way... just, you know, that way where they're thinking about themselves as well... it doesn't mean they don't care about you, right?
